Boston Bazaar Bizarre - Sunday, December 7th!

Boston Bazaar Bizarre is coming up real quick-like and we just wanted to remind you because a) you love crafts and b) to ensure that you did not miss out on this most outrageously grand event [of which Lindsay, Brian and Athena will be a part, so come by and say hello]!

Boston Bazaar Bizarre
Sunday December 7, 2008
12 pm-7pm
@ The Castle at Park Plaza
101 Arlington Street
Boston, MA 02116
$1 Admission

The Boston branch of this nationally renowned craft fair will take place on December 7th 2008 from Noon to 7 pm at the Park Plaza Castle in Boston. With the DIY/handmade phenomenon at its peak, check out the event that started it all. Shoppers can expect to find the crème de la crème of indie goods: handbags, pottery, letterpress stationary, silk-screened t-shirts, baby clothes, body products and more!

Bazaar Bizarre began in 2001 in the Boston-area as a hodge-podge of friends and acquaintances cobbling together their handcrafted DIY wares to sell and staging an offbeat entertainment extravaganza. In 2004 the Bazaar Bizarre spread to Los Angeles, Cleveland and in 2006 Make took the group under their wing to include the Bazaar Bizarre as part of the Maker Faire in the San Mateo and Austin. Bazaar Bizarre Boston will offer attendees an opportunity to purchase handmade goods, groove to djs, and enjoy local food.

Shop Sustainably, Shop Indie
Bazaar Bizarre Boston (BBB) will feature 140+ indie crafters and designers from across the country. The event will also serve as a networking opportunity for indie designers and businesses from New England and the beyond. Past Bazaar Bizarre vendors have included My Paper Crane, Craftster, My Favorite Mirror, Art School Dropout and Skunkadelia. View the entire vendor list at http://bazaarbizarre.org/boston_stuff/vendorlist.html

Indie Music, Handmade Nation and Food!
Holiday grooving DJs will be providing entertainment throughout the day, and as always you can catch Holiday Thereminist Extraordinaire, Jonnie Spaceman. Words cannot describe the love and goodwill of the people for Jonnie Spaceman, a stalwart feature of the Boston Bazaar Bizarre. With his inimitable theremin stylings, Mr. Spaceman has redefined for the ages both "indie rock" and "Christmas Carol." .

Handmade Nation documents a movement of artists, crafters and designers that recognize a marriage between historical techniques, punk and DIY ethos while being influenced by traditional handiwork, modern aesthetics, politics, feminism, and art. Fueled by the common thread of creating, Handmade Nation explores a burgeoning art community that is based on creativity, determination and networking. Check out Handmade Nation's table for a screening of a 20 clip from the movie.

At least 3 food vendors will be providing all sorts of snacks and food to help fuel our shoppers. Petsi Pies, Snacks, Crackers and Pop, and Mr. Puppovich's Odd Beverages & Uncommon Delights will be providing fuel throughout the day to help you keep on track with shopping!

If You Support Bazaar Bizarre Boston, You Support…
Community * Sustainability * Small Business * Artists and Craftsmen

Brought to you by the 2008 Boston Bazaar Bizarre organizers: Alison Gordon (www.homeofthesampler.com), Jen Ferreira (www.saint9.com), Marissa Falco (www.marissaland.com), Megan Kelliher, Sarah Coyne (www.eggagogo.com), and Stacie Slotnick (www.thecritique.org).

Mass Market is coming up quick and you should be there! We've got an incredible list of vendors this time around, ready to exhibit their hard work and wares - silkscreened tees, eco-conscious accessories, vintage finds, records, radical literature - we're going to be chock full of finds. We've also got a great DJ list [DJ Rexcashmere, (Mark from Neptune), DJ Lone Wolf (todo mundo and gold chain), DJ Braindance (Ben from Baixa), DJ HMS Beagle, a special Kaiju Big Battel character performance and others...], a local band table with tons of merch and music and a huge clothing/scrap material swap across the hall [bring a grocery bag's worth and leave with a bag of new-to-you finds!].

See you there!

New Dance Party Massacre/H.E.L.L. Design to be Featured at Mass Market

Dance Party Massacre will be featuring a not-yet-available t-shirt design at Mass Market, in support of H.E.L.L.!

"[After the deaths of Gordon Riker and Kelly Wallace], Zack Smith decided to start up a non-profit organization titled H.E.L.L. (Helping Everyone Live Longer). While it raises awareness of bike safety, H.E.L.L.’s main goal is give out free helmets with the proceeds they receive.

As part of the update to Dance Party Massacre’s first season, we will be releasing a new design in collaboration with H.E.L.L. Not only will wearing their name around help spread word of their cause, but we will donate 10% of the profits directly to H.E.L.L. so they can give out free helmets and help save lives.

This is what Dance Party Massacre is all about. It’s about our nightmares, our worst fears. It’s about making our dreams reality. It’s about living our lives and dancing while we still can. We can make it. We won’t be brought down."

Mass Market Needs Your Help!

We need a few people to work the door the day of the market [just two weeks from now!], collecting admission fees and things of that nature. Think about it - big responsibility, big personalities, big FUN. Let us know if you want to help out [message us here or email Lindsay at lindsayDOTmetivierATgmailDOTcom].

We'll make it worth your while!
